I appropriated a scene from Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (1951), in which Alice falls down the rabbit hole, and projected it onto the cross-section of a tree stump. Meanwhile, I carved into the stump’s surface, as if trying to carve out a hole for her.

During the fall, Alice appears both amazed and excited, with no trace of fear in her voice. She speaks to herself as if two selves were in dialogue—one reminding her that what she is doing is improper, while the other remains fascinated by the unknown. Standing outside the image and gazing at her, we participate in the fall through our imagination. At the same time, we seem to inhabit two bodies: one inside and one outside the rabbit hole.
